Welcome Michael Stapleton!
Michael is joining us from Gild: a TechCrunch Disrupt startup and game-ified jobs platform for developers. He served Gild as the VP of Marketing, helping build their marketing team from scratch and bringing them front-page coverage in The New York Times, AllThingsD, Fortune and Forbes as well as broadcast coverage on Bloomberg, NPR and CNBC.
Now as AnyPerk’s Director of Marketing, he will help get AnyPerk’s name and brand further out into the world! Very excited to have Michael join our team – please see below to learn a bit more about him.
Q: How did you first hear of AnyPerk?
A: An agency reached out to me about the position, and when I spoke with Taro, AnyPerk’s CEO, I became truly excited about the opportunity. Aside from demonstrating his enthusiasm—which is infectious—Taro concisely explained two key things: the market opportunity and the broader vision for AnyPerk. I quickly realized how much potential AnyPerk had, and I wanted to be a part of it. And, I love the idea of coming to work every day fighting for stronger employee happiness and deeper engagement.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish at AnyPerk?
A: I want to help build a brand that people see as essential to thriving, engaged employees. I hope to massively increase people’s knowledge of the AnyPerk brand, work with Sales to grow revenue over time, help the Product team achieve product/market fit, and continually devise new ways of delivering on our brand mantra: Delight Your Employees.
Q: What activities fill your weekends?
A: Most weekends include spending time with friends, exercising, and doing things that energize me. Right now I’m trying to read more serious fiction. I used to be a great reader, but I fell off the wagon a year or two ago, and I want to get back on. I also do a lot of work on fundraising and development with my alma mater, Reed College, which often takes place on the weekends.
Q: Where will you be in 5 years?
A: I’m probably still in San Francisco, and AnyPerk has grown into a global brand enjoyed by millions of employees worldwide. That means I get to work on really cool big brand campaigns—like billboards and commercials—and can give meaningful attention to the longer-term strategy for the company.
Q: What is your favorite perk?
A: Good question. My favorite perk is the “Request a Perk” function. But in case that doesn’t count, I’m pretty excited about Original Stitch, which lets me custom design and size my own shirts. I’ve got freakishly long arms and have a hard time finding shirts that fit, so that’s going to make my life much easier.
